The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Witcher has reached the next stage in becoming a fully fledged Netflix series. Inspired by Andrzej Sapkowski‘s collection of books, which were made even more famous by the CD Projekt Red video game series, The Witcher is currently in the hands of writer Lauren S. Hissrich. Or more accurately, her pilot script is in the hands of the creative team who are now going to turn the 78-page fantasy-focused foundation episode back around with their notes scribbled in the margins.
In the meantime, Hissrich is taking to social media to keep fans and followers apprised of the status of The Witcher. As you may have guessed, not everyone on the Internet is either polite or open-minded about the adaptation, details of which are few and far between. Smith Hissrich has done a remarkable job of neutralizing said trolls, much like Geralt of Rivia himself. But if you’re a decent sort of person and reach out to the writer with some honest and professional questions about the adaptation, you might just find yourself in an actual conversation. At the very least, Hissrich has been sharing short, descriptive tweets about some of her favorite characters from the series, some of whom might just make their way into the adaptation.
Check out a sampling of Hissrich’s tweets below:
#TheWitcher pilot is out for notes, and I’m out for the weekend to spend some time with my kids. See you bright and early on Monday! pic.twitter.com/qjAr5reRgB

INTERPRETATION:
I pitched the main storylines of season one to @Netflix on December 13th.
By Dec 28th, I had fleshed out the individual arcs of characters for the pilot. (And yes, I deleted these aptly-titled documents from the picture so I don't ruin the surprise!)

On Jan 19th, I turned in the first outline. This was the longest process, because they're incredibly detailed (30 pages).
On Feb 2nd, I turned in a revised beatsheet, after dropping one of the main storylines, so producers could all be on the same page for the new structure.

And on Feb 23rd, I finished the first draft of the pilot. It's 78 pages, which is a little too long, but I'm not ready to cut anything else yet!

I think the only two thing I've ever, ever confirmed are:
1.) Geralt will be a man.
2.) The show won't be watered down. https://t.co/u92NnrIm66— Lauren S. Hissrich (@LHissrich) February 28, 2018
