Amy Poehler to Make Feature Directorial Debut with Netflix’s ‘Wine Country’!!!

Believe it or not, Amy Poehler has yet to make her feature directorial debut. That’s about to change with a new Netflix comedy dubbed Wine Country. Not content with simply sitting in the director’s chair, Poehler will also star in and produce the film, and she’ll be joined by a cast including Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Maya Rudolph and Emily Spivey, with, of course, Tina Fey waiting somewhere in the wings. Perhaps Netflix will prove to be as lucrative a platform for Poehler, Fey & Co. as it has been for Adam Sandler & Friends, so this will be an interesting case study.

As THR reports, Wine Country “tells of longtime friends who go to Napa for a weekend getaway to celebrate a 50th birthday.” The upcoming comedy was w ritten by Spivey (The Last Man on Earth), a collaborated of Poehler’s on both Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation, and Liz Cackowski, another SNL writer who also worked alongside Spivey for The Last Man on Earth. The plan is to start production next week in both Los Angeles and, of course, Napa.
