‘The Suicide Squad’: Michael Rooker in Talks to Play King Shark!!

The cast of James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad is starting to shape up … sorta. Little has been confirmed for the follow-up film that sees DC Comics’ villains teaming up together, under punishment of death if they don’t, in order to carry out dangerous missions for the government. It sounds like The Walking Dead alumnus Michael Rooker might get to go all aquatic this time around in a big-time villainous role.

The Wrap reports that they’re hearing that Rooker is in talks to play King Shark, but that’s the extent of the intel. Rooker has, of course, worked with Gunn a number of times before, most recently in Guardians of the Galaxy franchise as Yondu “Mary Poppins, y’all” but also in The Belko Experiment, Super, and Slither. It’s not a stretch to think that Gunn and Rooker would reunite for yet another high-profile picture, especially since the odds that Rooker’s GotG character would be making a return are pretty slim.

If you’re keeping track of the cast so far, we know that Will Smith will not return as Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot, though Idris Elba is in talks to take his place; Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney‘s Captain Boomerang will return; John Cena is in talks to play newcomer Peacemaker, a role that was originally offered to Dave Bautista; Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller; and Joel Kinnaman might be back as Rick Flag, maybe.
