‘Silence of the Lambs’ Sequel and ‘The Equalizer’ Reboot Get Straight-to-Series Orders!!

CBS has given straight-to-season orders to TV spin-offs based on movies Silence of the Lambs and The Equalizer.

The Silence of the Lambs series, titled Clarice, will star Pretty Little LiarsRebecca Breeds as FBI agent Clarice Starling, who was portrayed by Jodie Foster and later Julianne Moore on the big screen.

It takes place a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs and will focus on the untold personal story of Clarice as she returns to work.

Audiences will also get to see for the first time her inner turmoil as Clarice continues her psychological journey of escaping a challenging childhood.

Following the project’s announcement in January, showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet said: “After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes – Clarice Starling. “Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”

Meanwhile, it’s a return to the small screen for The Equalizer, which was originally a 1980s TV series starring Edward Woodward.

In 2014, the show was turned into a movie starring Denzel Washington, Chloë Grace Moretz and David Harbour.

The CBS reboot will feature Queen Latifah as “an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn”.

It will also star Sex and the City‘s Chris Noth and Orange Is the New Black‘s Lorraine Toussaint.
