‘The New Mutants’: New TV Spot Sees Powers Being Unleashed!! Check It Out!!

The notorious horror-tinged extension of 20th Century Fox‘s prized X-Men film series, The New Mutants, released a new, intriguing television commercial today. The long-delayed Josh Boone superhero feature was originally slated to release back in April 2018. But due to numerous creative and administrative decisions, the film was pushed back repeatedly until it was finally allotted an August 2020 premiere date. The New Mutants is still on the release calendar for August 28, although the COVID-19 pandemic has forced Disney to reschedule the premieres of several other forthcoming titles.

While The New Mutants won’t be rated-R, it looks to be one of the darkest entries the X-Men franchise has seen. The story focuses on a sinister facility that is housing mutants played by Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zag, Blu Hunt. These mutants all have extraordinary and unique powers, some of which include Rahne Sinclair’s ability to turn into a wolf, and Mirage’s power to create illusions based on the fears and desires of her enemies. Now, a new TV spot for The New Mutants shows the heroes in action.

The New Mutants‘ most recent TV spot finally delves into the respective superpowers of its lead characters. The new TV spot kicks off by flinging an anticipated nod to the film’s setting: the special facility that is claiming to help the teenage mutants to gain control over their abilities. Soon the lens shifts its focus towards The New Mutants’ characters, exploring the origins of what caused them to possess special powers. The TV spot can be seen in the tweet below:

The newest TV-spot for The New Mutants was a well crafted one as it contains many horror beats that are usually uncommon to MCU. And, at the same time, it also serviced fans with quick glimpses of the characters, their supernatural abilities, the secondary alien-like villains, and the primary demon bear antagonist. Boone confirmed at SDCC that his original vision is still intact, with the film never going through reshoots, meaning everything in this teaser is the way Boone pictured it.

In tandem with Logan and DeadpoolThe New Mutants also departs from the traditional X-Men movies in terms of tonality. The movie is PG-13 like all of the MCU movies, but there’s no telling if the film will be a success or not, especially if New Mutants ends up going straight to Disney+. Regardless, this X-Men spin-off has managed to keep fans hooked, mostly through its grippingly eerie trailers and teasers like this one.
