‘Florida Man’: Edgar Ramirez to Star in Netflix’s Drama Series!!

Edgar Ramirez is back for a new day at Netflix.

The Yes Day star will topline an eight-episode, straight-to-series drama called Florida Man.

Created by Donald Todd (This Is Us), Florida Man follows what happens when a struggling ex-cop (Ramirez) is forced to return to his home state to find a Philly mobster’s runaway girlfriend. What should be a quick gig becomes a spiraling journey into buried family secrets, and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong.

Jason Bateman‘s Netflix-based Aggregate will produce the series, which is described as a wild odyssey into a sunny place for shady people in the spirit of Body Heat and Elmore Leonard’s Out of Sight.

Todd will serve as showrunner and exec produce alongside Bateman and Aggregate‘s Michael Costigan.

Florida Man brings Ramirez back into the Netflix fold after he starred opposite Jennifer Garner in the streamer’s comedy feature Yes Day. Netflix estimates that at least 53 million member households will have watched at least two minutes of the pic within its first four weeks on the service.

Ramirez‘s credits include HBO‘s The Undoing. He next has Borderlands, Jungle Cruise and The 355. His series credits also include American Crime Story. He’s repped by CAA, Impression Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein.

Todd, meanwhile, counts NBC‘s This Is Us, ABC‘s Samantha Who, Ugly Betty and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow among his credits.

Bateman‘s Aggregate Films produces Netflix‘s Ozark, HBO‘s The Outsider, FX‘s A Teacher, Apple‘s upcoming Brie Larson series Lessons in Chemistry. The company has a first-look deal with Netflix.
