Magnolia Pictures is proud to present BAD LUCK BANGING OR LOONY PORN, the eighth full length feature film by celebrated Romanianauteur Rady Jude. A three-part satire that is as shocking as it is funny, the film follows a schoolteacher named Emi (Katia Pascariu) who must face the consequences of a personal sex tape being leaked on the internet.
Jude as modern visionary shines through in the film where he takes the viewer on a journey through an array of different lenses; an ode to the French New Wave one moment, the next is Surrealistic and brash, creating a film that is as mesmerizing as it is uncategorizable – all while delivering scathing social commentary on hypocrisy and prejudice in our societies.
BAD LUCK BANGING OR LOONY PORN premiered at the 2021 Berlin International Film Festival where it won the festival’s top prize, the Golden Bear. The film will next play at the 2021 New York and Karlovy Vary Film Festivals. Previously, Jude won the Silver Berlin Bear at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival for his film AFERIM! (2015), which was also the Romanian official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Magnolia Pictures will release BAD LUCK BANGING OR LOONY PORN on Friday, November 19, 2021 exclusively in select theatres.
SYNOPSIS – School teacher Emi (Katia Pascariu) finds her reputation under threat after a personal sex tape is uploaded onto the internet. Forced to meet the school’s parents demanding her dismissal, Emi refuses to surrender. BAD LUCK BANGING OR LOONY PORN is a film in three loosely connected parts: a walk in the city of Bucharest, then a playful essay on obscenities, all culminating – in the third part – in an incendiary comic confrontation.
