Oh what a year this has been! An arguably return to glory for movies. After two years of pandemic restrictions that hit the film industry incredibly hard, as well as the ever present growing threat from streaming, things were comparatively quite better this year. Especially, thanks to critical and commercial successes of films like Top Gun: Maverick, Nope, The Batman and of course, the long awaited Avatar: The Way of Water, which just hits $1 Billion at the global box office. Meanwhile, streaming platforms continued to play their part, rising in power, with mix of both praise worthy and forgettable releases. Nevertheless, based on my opinion, here are some of the best films the big old Hollywood machine churned out this year:
