‘Deadpool 3’: Emma Corrin Set to Play the Villain in MCU Sequel!!

As Deadpool 3 makes its way into production, we’ll get plenty of news to get excited about—especially in the casting phase, which is happening right now. We have, of course, Ryan Reynolds reprising the lead role and the highly anticipated return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in a team-up that makes the threequel a must-watch. But there are more names coming. Today, Reynolds—who also produces the movie—took to Twitter to announce that royalty is coming into the mix: Emma Corrin has joined the cast.

Corrin rose to prominence after playing young Princess Diana of Wales in the Netflix hit drama series The Crown. Their performance as the real-life icon earned Corrin a massive amount of praise, and they were nominated at the Emmys, Critics’ Choice, Screen Actors’ Guild, and many others for the role. Corrin’s talent is undisputable, and we’re already excited to see what they will bring to the X-Men franchise. Especially now that Deadline has reported that they will be a villain.

Emma Corrin Has Been in the Superhero World Before

In his post, Reynolds didn’t reveal which character Corrin will be playing, and also didn’t mention if the actor will play a human or a mutant. We’ll have to wait a little more to find out, but that information is certainly going to hit us sooner rather than later since the movie goes into principal photography soon. Corrin is no stranger to the superhero world as well: they were featured in a few episodes of DC’s Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler. In cinema, Corrin was recently in Lady Chatterley’s Lover and the Harry Styles-led drama My Policeman.

What Else Is Happening With Deadpool 3?

Last week, Jackman himself provided some updates about the production of Deadpool 3. The Academy Award nominee and Tony winner revealed that he’s training hard in order to get back into Wolverine shape—and that has to be done in a timely fashion, since the upcoming movie has set a late 2024 release date. Reportedly, the actor will spend as much as six months training to reprise the fan-favorite role.

Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy, who worked with Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project. The screenplay is written by Emmy winners Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (Bob’s Burgers), who have the hard task of meeting fans’ already sky-high expectations for the movie. Marvel Studios also has high expectations for the movie, since the previous two entries of the Deadpool franchise managed to rake in over $700 million worldwide each—impressive numbers for R-rated films. This will be the first Deadpool movie to premiere under the Marvel Studios umbrella, after 20th Century Studios was bought by Disney in 2019.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 8, 2024. Check out Reynolds‘ full post below:
