‘Darkwing Duck’: Disney+ Revival From Seth Rogen Gets Release Date Update!!

The long-planned reboot of the classic animated series Darkwing Duck is showing new signs of progress. The revival recently received an encouraging update from original voice star Jim Cummings. The latest comments suggest that work on the reboot is underway.

Jim Cummings has provided a new update on the revival of Darkwing Duck, which is being executive-produced by Seth Rogen for Disney+. In an interview with ScreenRant, he addressed the status of the reboot.

Speaking about the revival, Cummings described the return of the character as “long overdue.” He added, “We’re all still alive and kicking. I guess Seth Rogen, my old buddy, he’s going to be one of the prime movers, shakers. So stay tuned.” The actor indicated that development on the series is still underway and suggested that only limited work has been completed so far. According to him, “Well, we’ve only recorded basically one offshoot so far.”

While discussing possible changes, Cummings mentioned, “But the thing is, if it’s not broke, you don’t fix it. Gosalyn’s grown up. So that’s interesting.” However, he did not provide further details about the production timeline or plot details.

Cummings had previously spoken about the revival in August 2025 during an interview with TikTok creator TheHijabiBounder. At that time, he confirmed that the project was in development and described the return of the character as meaningful to him personally. As reported by ComicBook, he noted, “That is one that’s very near and dear to my heart, and I’m so honored that after 30 years he’s coming back. I don’t want to spoil anything, but Gosalyn has grown up, and he’s actually gotten older.”

The original Darkwing Duck series, created by Tad Stones, first ran from 1991 to 1992. It centers on Drake Mallard, an ordinary suburban duck who secretly operates as a masked superhero.
