‘Peacemaker’ Season 2: First Set Image Confirms Beginning of Filming!! Check It Out!!

Mere days after John Cena revealed that Peacemaker Season 2 would begin production soon, he’s already suited up to deliver peace and justice to all who would oppose him. James Gunn announced on Instagram with a photo of the back of Peacemaker’s helmet that Season 2 of the series had officially begun production. Gunn has also been steadily providing updates on the progress of the first DCU film, Superman, which has been in production since late February and is currently targeting a July 11, 2025, release date.

With Gunn being on set to announce the start of filming himself, this means he’ll be navigating the filming of both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 at the same time. Gunn has years of filmmaking experience, but this will push him to his limits as the new co-CEO of DC Studios. On top of managing these two high-profile projects at once, Gunn is likely also providing feedback and assistance to other DCU projects in various stages of development, such as Creature Commandos. Not long after Gunn and Safran were announced as the new heads of DC, they revealed their plan for Chapter 1, titled “Gods and Monsters,” and now it’s time for James to see his creative vision through.

Peacemaker Season 2 will be the third appearance by Cena‘s Christopher Smith, after subsequently appearing in Season 1 and also in Gunn‘s first DC film, The Suicide Squad. Several other cast members, including Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Agent Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and John Economos (Steve Agee) are all expected to return. Peacemaker’s loveable winged companion Eagly, voiced by the incredible Dee Bradley Baker (The Bad Batch, The Clone Wars) will also likely be around patrolling the skies in the second season. Gunn is always transparent but also plays things close to the vest — there are almost certainly yet-to-be-announced new additions to fill in the loss of Freddie Stroma‘s Vigilante and Chukwudi Iwuji‘s Clemson Murn.

What Do We Know About ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2?

There is currently no release date announced for Peacemaker Season 2, but fans can rest easy knowing Gunn will provide these details as soon as he’s ready. In a world where Marvel Studios operates with Black-Ops-level secrecy, it’s refreshing to see a studio head be so transparent with their audience. The DCEU may not have gone out with a bang with The Flash and Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, but there is plenty of hope on the horizon for a new era of DC stories under Gunn, Safran, and co.

Peacemaker Season 1 is one of the most positively received comic book projects in history, currently sitting at a 94% critics score and 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. All eight episodes of the first season are available to stream on Max. Check out the set image on Gunn‘s Instagram below:
