CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

 Violetta / Tini

(Martina ‘Tini’ Stoessel)

Violetta is at a crossroads. An exhaustive musical career and complicated personal life have left her struggling to find her inner voice. When she returns from a tiring tour to shocking news, it forces her to question everything she’s ever known. Looking for answers Violetta accepts a spontaneous invitation to fly half way across the world and embark on a journey of creative and personal self-discovery that will change her life forever.

Ludmila

(Mercedes Lambre)

Witty, confident and smart, Violetta’s best friend Ludmila may live the glamorous life of a fashion-loving ‘It’ girl in Madrid, but when drama strikes, Ludmila will do everything it takes to help Violetta in her time of need.

Leon

(Jorge Blanco)

While Violetta travels the world on a concert tour, her boyfriend Leon is just as busy recording his first solo album in Los Angeles, and it’s not long before outside forces threaten everything they hold dear. As Violetta embraces a world full of exciting new possibilities, will Leon be able to prove his love in time to save their relationship?

Caio

(Adrián Salzedo)

Caio’s always dreamed of becoming a dancer, but personal tragedy changed everything. When Violetta arrives in the small Italian coastal town where he lives, there’s an immediate and unavoidable spark between them both. As Violetta and Caio grow ever closer, their connection changes their lives in ways they never expected.

Melanie

(Sofia Carson)

An actress who is as deceiving as she is driven, she’s been spending a lot of time with Leon in Los Angeles while he records his album. Ambitious, flirty, and calculating, she’ll do whatever it takes to get what she wants.

Eloisa

(Georgina Amorós)

Eloisa is a photographer with an eye for the unexpected. A student at Isabella’s creative retreat, her warmth, free spirit and unique life view inspires everyone around her, and she soon becomes close friends with roommates Violetta and Miranda.

Miranda

(Beatrice Arnera)

Clothes are Miranda’s world, and she has dreams of becoming a great fashion designer, but one thing stands in her way – she’s suffering a creative block that stops her designing anything with colour. When Tini and Eloisa move into her room at Isabella’s villa retreat, Miranda’s friendship helps shape Violetta’s personal transformation as much as her own.

Roko

(Francisco Viciana)

The shy introvert of the group, Roko’s lonesome nature is at distinct odds to the party-starting musical and technical wizardry he brings to his DJ sets. He finds release through his music, is always there for his friends when it counts, and possesses extraordinary talents that could save the day when everyone least expects it.

Raul

(Ridder van Kooten)

The definition of ‘nerdy cool’, Raul is a tech genius, incredible digital artist and has a passion for creating stunning, futuristic light and laser displays. Along with his cousin Saul, Raul is part of the inseparable ‘Los Primos’, a duo staying at Isabella’s retreat who use their skills to take Tini’s performances to the next level.

Saul

(Leonardo Cecchi)

The other half of ‘Los Primos’, Saul’s friendship and creative partnership with Raul is so close that many believe they’re brothers (though they’re actually cousins). The slightly cooler half of the pair, Saul uses his talents to stage shows as visually incredible as they are unpredictable.

Stefano

(Pasquale Di Nuzzo)

Stefano appreciates the finer things in life, and is quick to show off his good looks and impressive boats. When Tini arrives in the small Italian coastal town he vacations in, he expects her to fall at his feet. Things do not exactly go as planned.

 Isabella

(Ángela Molina)

A long-term family friend with mysterious ties to Tini’s past, Isabella welcomes Tini to her creative Sicilian retreat with open, compassionate and encouraging arms. Isabella helps Tini discover her inner voice, and a revelation that will change everything for her future.

Angie

(María Clara Alonso)

When Violetta’s world crumbles down around her, her stepmother Angie is there with a warm, caring and maternal word of wisdom to help her find her way.

German (Tini’s father)

(Diego Ramos)

Violetta’s father German only wants her to be happy. So when he sees her in emotional crisis, he reaches out to a mysterious family friend who could hold the key to her past and future.

FAN FACTS

PART OF OUR WORLD – The cast warmed up their voices between scenes by singing songs from “The Little Mermaid”. Beatrice Arnera (Miranda) would begin singing and then everyone else to join in.

THE BIGGEST JOKER – The biggest joker and prankster on-set was Jorge Blanco (León).  He would play jokes on the cast on-set, and then back at the hotel after filming had finished. Adrián Salzedo (Caio) and Blanco created a WhatsApp group to help them plan when and where to prank people!

FAMILY OFF AND ON-SET – The cast and crew spent so many evenings eating at the same Sicilian restaurant that they became good friends with the locals – and asked them to appear in the movie! The uncles, aunts and cousins you see in Caio’s family party scene are the same local people from the restaurant.

A GRAND ADVENTURE – Many of the cast agree that the funniest day on-set was when they filmed a scene where they push Violetta’s grand piano up a hill. They laughed so much that they gave themselves muscle cramp!

MOVIE MEMENTO – Adrián Salzedo brought a script to set on the last day of filming, and asked everyone to sign it. Cast and crew were allowed to put whatever they wanted on it – anything from a doodle to a declaration of love, just to leave their mark.

WATER WOES – Pasquale Di Nuzzo (Stefano) isn’t quite as comfortable on the waves as his character appears. Di Nuzzo had never wakeboarded before, and repeatedly fell into the water while filming the scene where Stefano shows off his impressive skills.

PARTY STARTER – The cast shot the final concert scene on their third day of filming together. To help them bond, Jorge Blanco introduced the cast to the popular mobile game ‘Heads Up!’. They spent hours between takes playing the game.

FITNESS FRIENDS – Some of the cast and crew bonded through casual fitness classes. Jorge Blanco and Francisco Cia had their own exercise routine and would often encourage the group to join them on their runs.

HORSE HILARITY – The scene where León finds a white stallion and rides off to find Violetta was a little less graceful in real life. Blanco’s horse refused to move on command, even when it was given food by the vet.

LET IT GO – “Tini: El Gran Cambio De Violetta” star Martina Stoessel (Violetta) is a Disney princess as well as a leading lady. In 2013, she voiced the Spanish and Italian versions of Idina Menzel’s “Frozen” hit song ‘Let It Go’.

HIGH SCHOOL REUNION – Jorge Blanco (León) and María Clara Alonso (Angie) first met and worked together years ago, when they both starred in Disney Channel Latin America’s sitcom “Cuando Toca La Campana” and High School Musical reality show “High School Musical: La Selección”.

ONE DANCE DIRECTION – “Tini: El Gran Cambio De Violetta”’s choreographer Jerry Reeve has worked with some of the biggest pop stars on the planet, including One Direction, The Wanted, Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams.

DANCE PRACTICE – The cast spent two whole days practicing the choreography for the breathtaking ‘Night of the Fireflies’ beach dance routine.

MOVIE DESCENDANTS – Fans may recognise Sofia Carson (Melanie) after the phenomenal success of 2015 Disney Channel original movie “Disney’s Descendants”. She starred as Evie, and released a solo version of the movie’s hit song ‘Rotten to the Core’.

GOT TO DANCE – Pasquale Di Nuzzo (Stefano) is a man of many talents. While he makes his feature film debut in “Tini: El Gran Cambio De Violetta”, he reached the semi-finals of Italian talent show “Amici di Maria De Filippi” with his dance routines.

LOST IN TRANSLATION – Before the movie started shooting, Beatrice Arnera (Miranda), and Pasquale Di Nuzzo did not speak Spanish, and had to embark on emergency language lessons. While all the cast sound fluent in Spanish, Ridder van Kooten (Raul) is Dutch, while Leonardo Cecchi (Saul), Pasquale Di Nuzzo and Beatrice Arnera are Italian.

TIME TRAVEL – The incredible final concert scene was shot at the Taormina Amphitheatre, a World Heritage site that’s not usually open to filming and dates back to 700 BC. Many of the other scenes were shot in and around the medieval fishery “Tonnaro” di Scopello, which dates back to the year 900 AD.

THE CHARACTER IN THE CLOTHES – Fashion fans can spot hints to the characters’ emotional moods in their wardrobe. When Violetta first comes to Italy, she changes the style and colour of her clothes as she changes her character, Ludmila’s wardrobe reflects her travelling experience, and León’s outfits also evolve between his time in Italy and Los Angeles.

MAKING THE MUSIC MATTER – The movie’s musical numbers have a hugely important impact on the story, and director Juan Pablo Buscarini was keen to ensure that the song and dance moments are grounded in reality and don’t become extravagant or fantastical.

TRACK LIST – Martina Stoessel sings four original songs, including a duet with Jorge Blanco. Her favourite is ‘Siempre Brillarás (‘Born To Shine’)’ because it’s a song with a strong message that appeals to all ages. Jorge Blanco sings original song ‘Light Your Heart’, and Leonardo Cecchi sings the track ‘Freeze Frame’, which plays as the group dance the night away at the ‘Night of the Fireflies’ beach party. Adrián Salzedo, Beatrice Arnera, Leonardo Cecchi and Ridder van Kooten also sing a cover of Lost Frequencies’ ‘Reality’ – the song was recorded separately in different countries, and then the music team edited it together.

FILM AND TV – The cast discovered that shooting a movie is very different to shooting a TV show. On TV, actors can shoot up to 15 scenes a day, whereas on a movie they would film only two.
