Last chance to turn away. If you’re fine with spoilers, check out the new set photo revealing Spidey’s sinister villain below (via JoBlo):

Yeah, so that’s Shocker, a classic Spidey villain who’s been a member of the Sinister Six and has been around since he was created in 1967 by writer Stan Lee and artist John Romita, Sr. The Twitter fan account nabbed these images from another social media site, but have not provided a source other than to say it wasn’t an official one. That should go without saying, but now that the Shocker is in the open, we might be seeing some more official shots or casting press release from Sony/Marvel before long. Here are some better shots via social media:

A sharp-eyed commenter noticed that this character design seems to be modeled after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game. For the uninitiated, the Shocker, a.k.a. Herman Schultz, is a brilliant inventor and engineer who dropped out of high school in New York City and makes a living as a talented burglar and safe-cracker. His powers are derived through homemade gauntlets that project concentrated blasts of vibrations using compressed air.

The Shocker and Spidey have had a long history of battles in the comics, but this would be the first time the villain makes a live-action appearance. The current thought is that Woodbine will be playing the character, though we’ve received no official word one way or another.
