‘Pokemon Generations’: New Animated Series Coming to YouTube!!

Now celebrating 20 years of Pokemon, perhaps the biggest news of the year to date was the wildly successful Pokemon Go mobile game, which just rolled out another update today. But for longtime fans of the franchise and newcomers alike, one aspect that has long been missing from the pantheon of marketing material was a show that was more closely tied into the video games themselves. Recent news confirms that The Pokemon Company has answered that call with a new animated web series named Pokemon Generations looking to fill in that gap.

Thanks to a new trailer released by The Pokémon Company (via Screenrant), we’ve got our first look at the upcoming series which will be comprised of three-to-five-minute installments that seek to explore each of the franchise’s video games. These new animated adventures will take inspiration from game events, characters, and critters and use them to flesh out brand new stories from all across the virtual landscape. That’s a pretty cool addition to the mythology and a definite win for fans, especially as new games continue to be rolled out.

Look for Pokemon Generations on YouTube starting September 16th and airing each week, running all the way through the fall to December 23rd!

Check out the trailer for Pokemon Generations below, followed by the official synopsis and some concept art:

The new animated series Pokémon Generations revisits each generation of the Pokémon video game series to shed new light on some timeless moments. From the earliest days in the Kanto region to the splendor of the Kalos region, go behind the scenes and witness Pokémon history with new eyes! These bite-sized adventures, about 3 to 5 minutes long, will be released every week through December 23, 2016.
