The cast and crew of Netflix’s The Defenders is getting larger by the day. Shortly after announcing Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson will return to helm the first two episodes and executive produce the premiere, Marvel revealed two faces from Daredevil and Luke Cage will make comebacks, as well.
Deborah Ann Woll will return as Karen Page, who discovered Matt Murdock’s vigilante identity in Daredevil Season 2, while Luke Cage’s Harlem detective Misty Knight will make a comeback by way of Simone Missick. They’ll appear alongside Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, and Sigourney Weaver as the still unnamed villain. Jessica’s sidekick, Malcolm, will also return, as actor Eka Darville confirmed his presence at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Melbourne, Australia. Elden Henson(Foggy Nelson) similarly announced his return at a convention, though neither he nor Darville have been formally announced by Marvel.

Woll’s role in Marvel’s world of Hell’s Kitchen has expanded since first appearing Season 1 of Daredevil. She reprised Karen in Season 2, and now she’ll also appear in The Punisher spin-off series, as Jon Bernthal announced at New York Comic-Con. For Missick, the last time we saw Misty she was taking on a more comic book-inspired look in Luke Cage.
Daredevil peeps Drew Goddard, Marco Ramirez, and Doug Petrie will executive produce The Defenders alongside head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. With The Punisher already in production, The Defenders is expected to start filming by the end of the year for a 2017 release. Plot details are still unknown, though it’ll only be eight episodes, which is probably for the best.
