‘Justice League Dark’: New Trailer Promises R-Rated Animated Mayhem!! Check It Out!!

Justice League Dark, the latest animated adaptation of a DC Comics tale and the characters that populate it, will be following up on the success of Batman: The Killing Joke in more ways than one. That Warner Bros. Animation effort was the first R-rated Batman feature in history; Justice League Dark aims to be the second when the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie hits Blu-ray, DVD and Digital in early 2017.

A new trailer for the film along with confirmation of its R rating “for disturbing violence has been released.” Also on display is plenty of magical, mystical mayhem. The title team exists to take on the supernatural threats that are every bit as deadly and dangerous as those that plague the Justice League, but also come with a bonus demonic twist. Batman is the sole character to occupy both teams as he walks within both worlds and exists as a sort of liaison between the two groups. Besides, no one’s going to tell Batman he can’t get in on the fun.

New cast members include Jeremy Davies as Ritchie; Enrico Colantoni playing Felix Faust; Alfred Molina as Destiny; and Roger R. Cross pulling double duty as both Swamp Thing and John Stewart, a.k.a. Green Lantern. They’ll join these existing cast members: Batman’s Jason O’Mara, Constantine’s Matt Ryan (reprising his short-lived live-action TV series role), Zatanna’s Camilla Luddington, Deadman’s Nicholas Turturro, Jason Blood/Etrigan’s Ray Chase, Superman’s Jerry O’Connell, and Wonder Woman’s Rosario Dawson.
