Michael Bay confirmed that the writing team behind the franchise has outlined 14 new stories, revealing the news during a preview of Transformers: The Last Knight in London on Wednesday night.
The pre-recorded segment saw Bay talking to fans from his studio where he revealed that the future of the franchise had been developed during production of The Last Knight, the fifth film in the series, ensuring that the new movie lays the groundwork and the backstory for the upcoming movies.
Bay has previously suggested that The Last Knight will be his final Transformers movie and he reiterated that during his comments to fans at London’s Cineworld IMAX on Wednesday.
However, the star of the movies, Mark Wahlberg, told Metro.co.uk in 2016 that no one should ever believe Michael when he says a Transformer movie is his last one… so we’ll wait and see what happens in the future.
Trailers for The Last Knight have so far hinted at a explanation for why the intergalactic robots keep popping by to Planet Earth, and it looks like there may also be a big showdown between former buddies Optimus Prime and Bumblebee facing off each other.
Transformers: The Last Knight hits cinemas on June 23 2017.
