NBC is altering history: “Timeless” is getting a second season after all.
After canceling the time-travel drama on Wednesday, NBC had a change of heart. It certainly didn’t hurt that fans loudly vocalized their disappointment with the initial decision: “Timeless” was the top pick in USA Today’s “Save Our Shows” poll.
The Abigail Spencer-starring series centers around a mysterious criminal, who steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past. Our only hope is an unexpected team: a scientist, soldier and history professor who must use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to critical events. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive.
This week, NBC has picked up several other new series including “Champions,” “Good Girls,” “AP Bio,” “Rise” sci-fi drama “Reverie” and “The Brave,” previously titled “For God and Country.”
Among current series, NBC renewed “Great News,” which joins “The Blacklist,” “Blindspot,” “Taken” and three of four of Dick Wolf’s “Chicago” shows. On the flip side, the network has canceled “Emerald City,” “The Blacklist: Redemption” and “Powerless.”
