Warner Bros. has released seven Justice League clips. In the movie, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) bring together The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) to stop an intergalactic threat.
These clips finally show that threat by revealing a good look at Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), a totally CGI creation whose entire purpose seems to be tracking down Mother Boxes, uniting the Justice League, and then getting killed off to make room for a bigger bad, probably Darkseid (note: I don’t know if Steppenwolf dies in Justice League, it just seems super-duper likely). He doesn’t seem particularly threatening in this clip, but the other clips aren’t too bad as they try to juggle a superhero epic with some comic relief (largely coming from Flash). Very curious to see how this one turns out.
Check out the Justice League clips below. The film opens November 17th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Justice League:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Batman Meets Aquaman
This is the first scene we saw from the film at Comic-Con over two years ago, and it looks like that for all the changes they’ve made, the studio and the various filmmakers liked this meeting between Batman and Aquaman.
Batman Meets Flash
Again, another scene we saw in the first trailer from Comic-Con, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I would not be surprised if Ezra Miller’s Flash ended up stealing the movie. At the very least, everything I’ve seen from him so far makes me want to see his standalone movie.
Hey! Remember Wonder Woman! Wasn’t that movie great? This brief clip shows Diana saving the day yet again, and it’s not bad. It’s also got Zack Snyder’s signature speed-ramping.
“How Many of You Are There”
This is kind of a fascinating clip because you can kind of feel two movies being mashed-up together. It’s one thing to have comic relief, but The Flash is constantly looking askance at the serious movie his co-stars are in. Gordon’s talking about people being abducted and Flash seems incredibly uncertain about the whole situation, not just poking fun at the scenario as presented.
“I’ve Never Done Battle”
Again, you can see Flash being incredibly uneasy with joining the team and having to fight, but I like this different take on Batman. Rather than being the “Do You Bleed” grumpus from Batman v Superman, he’s being as much of a mentor figure as he can to Flash. It’s nice.
“I’ll Take It From Here”
This does not look like the film at its strongest. Cyborg’s face still looks bizarre and plastic, Steppenwolf comes off as easily disposable, and the action isn’t particularly exciting. It’s scenes like this that have me worried.
