‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Release Date Gets Bumped Up a Week!!!

Some have maintained that the blockbuster season never really ends, and Black Panther cleaning up at the box office in February supports that. But for me, I always took the first weekend in May as the start of the summer movie season, and we usually had a Marvel movie to go with that weekend. But now Marvel is changing the calendar with the Avengers: Infinity War release date.

While other territories are used to getting the new Marvel movie a little earlier, Disney is now taking the earlier release date worldwide. Marvel has announced that the Avengers: Infinity War release date has moved from May 4th to April 27th.

Although that may be a bit surprising, it makes more sense when you look at the whole calendar. There’s no real competition on April 27th, and now Disney has an extra week for their tentpole to dominate at the box office before releasing another tentpole with Solo: A Star Wars Story on May 25th. The spacing works out well for Disney, and other studios just kind of have to deal with it. It will be interesting to see if other studios scatter their movies to avoid getting crushed by Infinity War.

We can probably expect tickets for Avengers: Infinity War to go on sale soon. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston.

Here’s the official synopsis for Avengers: Infinity War:

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
