While many are still sad because of Sridevi’s demise, a handful of her fans know that before her death, she had signed an upcoming film with Karan Johar. The film was scheduled to be backed by Dharma Productions and directed by Abhishek Varman, who last helmed 2 States. But after her death, the project was put on hold. But now, it is confirmed that the film is still on and Sridevi’s role will be played by Madhuri Dixit. The big announcement was made by Janhvi Kapoor, the eldest daughter of the late actress.
Today, Janhvi took to her Instagram page and announced that Madhuri Dixit will play the part which the later actor was supposed to play. The star kid shared a photo of Sridevi and Madhuri with a caption stating, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ….Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film….”
With the upcoming film, Sridevi was all set to reunite with Sanjay Dutt after 25 long years. Titled Shiddat, the film is going to be a collaboration between Dharma Productions, Fox Star Studios, and Sajid Nadiadwala.
The film reportedly has an ensemble cast comprising of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.
