Ryan Reynolds apparently filmed the Deadpool test footage on the same weekend that his Green Lantern movie opened in cinemas.
Reynolds has had an interesting history with superhero movies; he, of course, is well known for his role as Deadpool today but has also starred as DC’s Green Lantern.
Most fans will be well aware of how the Deadpool solo movie came to be, with Reynolds putting together some test footage which eventually leaked to the public and persuaded Fox to make a feature-length film.
Well, it turns out that Reynolds filmed this footage the weekend that Green Lantern came out in cinemas – a film that disappointed fans and critics. Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, told Collider:
“I would go watch that footage at Tim’s studio for three years. People forget! That footage was filmed in 2011. Ryan filmed that the weekend Green Lantern came out. I was at Blur studios. Ryan filmed that the weekend Green Lantern was opening, that’s how old that footage is!”
It’s certainly interesting to think about what a significant moment in Reynolds’ career this was, considering the lack of success for Green Lantern and the adulation that Deadpool has since received.
