THR is reporting that Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films has nabbed the film and television rights to Nine Perfect Strangers, the upcoming novel from Liane Moriarty, author of Big Little Lies.
As with Big Little Lies, Kidman will both executive produce and star in Nine Perfect Strangers, which the site reports will most likely be adapted as a television series. Kidman will play Frances Welty, a former bestselling romantic novelist mending a broken heart, who visits a remote health resort where a group of people are gathered for a reboot on life.
“I’m so very happy and thrilled to once again be working with Nicole, Per Saari and Bruna Papandrea,” said Moriarty. “They are such talented, passionate people and I have no doubt that whatever they do with my Nine Perfect Strangers, it will be brilliant. I’m honored by their faith in this book — even before I’d written ‘the end’ they believed in it, and I just feel very lucky to have had them come into my life.”
Kidman is currently shooting the second season of Big Little Lies, while Moriarty has also recently set up a TV adaptation of her novel Three Wishes, and Blake Lively is attached to produce and star in an adaptation of another of her books, The Husband’s Secret.
