After years of speculation, rumor and false starts, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have taken to social media to announce that they are officially on board to reunite for a third Bad Boys movie, reprising their roles as Mike Lowrey and Marcus Bernett for Bad Boys for Life.
Bad Boys and Bad Boys II director Michael Bay first expressed his interest in reuniting with Smith and Lawrence for a third movie back in 2008. In June 2015 it was announced that Joe Carnahan (The Grey) had signed on to write and direct the film for release in 2017, but left the project after several delays, with Sony then enlisting Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Gangsta) to direct from a script by Chris Bremner (The Wedding Ringer).
At present, Bad Boys for Life is currently scheduled for release on January 17th 2020. Meanwhile, the Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba-headlined spinoff TV series L.A.’s Finest has recently received a series order from Spectrum, and is expected to premiere in 2019.
