Variety is reporting that Ryan Reynolds is set to produce the supernatural horror The Patient Who Nearly Drove Me Out of Medicine for 20th Century Fox and New Regency.
An adaptation of Jasper DeWitt’s novella, which was originally published on Reddit No Sleep, the film will follow idealistic young doctor who tries to solve a mystery and heal its most difficult patient. Fox is said to have secured the rights to the property after a competitive bidding situation with numerous studios involved.
Reynolds will produce the movie through his Maximum Effort production company, teaming with Roy Lee and Jon Berg of Vertigo Entertainment, whose credits include The Ring, The Grudge and It, as well as the Reynolds-headlined The Voices.
