Back in May of last year a rumor surfaced claiming that Marvel Studios was in talks with Donald Glover and Michael B. Jordan to join the cast of its superhero sequel Black Panther 2.
The rumor was a little dubious as: a) Glover already portrays the character of Aaron Davis in the MCU, having appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming; and b) Jordan’s Black Panther villain Erik Killmonger was killed at the end of the first movie.
Well, it seems there may have been some truth to part of it at least, as Angela Bassett (Ramonda) has revealed to Entertainment Tonight that all of the original Black Panther cast are returning for the sequel, “including Michael B.”
Killmonger’s fate did seem pretty certain at the end of Black Panther, although there are of course many ways that the character could return (Shuri somehow reviving him, Avengers: Endgame-style time travel shenanigans, an appearance in the Ancestral Plane etc.). And of course, it’s also possible that Bassett has been misinformed.
