‘Birds of Prey’: New Set Photos Tease a Possible Return of Jared Leto’s Joker!!! Check It Out!!

While it had been reported that the Clown Prince of Crime would be sitting out Warner Bros. and DC FilmsBirds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), it looks like the film is going to feature a brief cameo from The Joker at the very least, as the latest set photos show Margot Robbie shooting a scene which appears to show the break-up of Gotham’s most notorious couple. While The Joker’s design looks in fitting with his appearance in Suicide Squad, it has been confirmed that it wasn’t Jared Leto on set – he’s actually in Manchester, England shooting another comic book movie in Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Morbius, the Living Vampire.

Last month it was rumored that Leto’s time as the DC Extended Universe’s Joker could be up, with WB said to have scrapped its plans for a solo movie and the proposed Joker vs. Harley Quinn film. However, the actor has shared the following clown emoji to social media, which – coupled with the timing of these set photos – may suggest that we haven’t seen the last of his Joker just yet…

Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) is directing Birds of Prey from a script by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee) with Margot Robbie reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Fargo) as The Huntress, Jurnee Smolett-Bell (Underground) as Black Canary, Rosie Perez (Fearless) as Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco (Grey’s Anatomy) as Cassandra Cain, Ewan McGregor (Christopher Robin) as Black Mask, Chris Messina (Sharp Objects) as Victor Zsasz, Ali Wong (Black Box), Robert Catrini (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back), Steven Williams (The Chi), Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse, The Tick) and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs). It is set for release on February 7th 2020.
