‘Masters of the Universe’: Sony Pushes Release Date To 2020!!!

Given that it has absolutely no chance of being ready for its previously announced December 2018 release date, it will come as little surprise to learn that Sony Pictures has now pushed back its long-planned live-action Masters of the Universe reboot.

The adaptation of the classic Mattel brand has been in the works for many a year now, passing through the hands of directors John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda), Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), McG (Charlie’s Angels) and David S. Goyer (Blade: Trinity) before Aaron Nee and Adam Nee (Band of Robbers) came on board a year ago.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the script would once again receive a rewrite, this time from Iron Man and Men in Black: International scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holoway, while last month came reports that To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’s Noah Centineo is in talks to take on the role of He-Man, although his casting is yet to be officially confirmed by the studio.

Rather than setting a specific date, Sony has stated that Masters of the Universe will now be released at some point in 2020 – although given how difficult it’s been to get the movie up and running, don’t be surprised if we hear of another delay around this time next year.
