‘Black Mirror’ Season 5 Trailer Leans into Isolation in an Ever-Connected World!! Check It Out!!

The first trailer for Season 5 of Netflix’s anti-technology hit Black Mirror is here to stir up your paranoia. It’s a little difficult to parse out the particulars of the three new episodes that are coming this season, but they seem to have a familiar theme to them: Isolation and loneliness in a world where we’re supposedly more connected than ever through technology. While I’m speculating a bit here, it looks like these stories will take that idea into a variety of directions: dating apps and infidelity, virtual fame, and virtual fighting. That last idea looks like it’ll be the hook of this season as the actors get to play street-fightin’ avatars. (Stay tuned to see if Netflix makes this into an actual fighting game.)

Three all-new stories in Season 5 of Black Mirror, starring Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin arrive on Netflix June 5th. Add it to your watch list now if it’s not there already.

Three new stories about the future we should have seen coming. Black Mirror returns June 5th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Black Mirror, for those of you who are just catching up:

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
