As you know, DC is currently developing a new Batgirl movie with Bumblebee writer Christiana Hodson. The studio has yet to cast the lead role or hire a director, but there’s one Marvel movie star that would love to take to crack at both!
During a recent interview with Omelete, Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy) is totally open to starring in the film and directing. When asked which super hero she would like to play in another franchise, she said:
“Batgirl would be pretty cool! Yeah, she’s a redhead!”
That was followed up with a question asking her which superhero film she would want to direct, and in regards to that, she answered:
“Batgirl would be cool for that, as well. My favorite film in that world, my favorite one is Dark Knight. I just love the way that one is directed so much. So, I would just love to work in that world, as a director. Come on, DC. Look over this way!”
Yeah, DC! Look at Karen Gillan! She wants in on this movie action! I’m a huge fan of Gillan, I have been since she first appeared on Doctor Who. I’d be totally game to see her get involved with the upcoming Batgirl movie as the star, director, or both. Why not!?
She went on to address the future of Nebula in the MCU, saying:
“Nebula’s a very twisted and bitter sort of girl who’s been treated very badly by her father Thanos. Now, Thanos is dead. Spoilers, if you haven’t seen Endgame, I’m sorry. The source of her abuse has been eliminated so it will be interesting to see how she gets on with her life now that he’s not around. Now, she can have a relationship with her sister.”
