Netflix has delayed a planned virtual preview of its drama film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, starring Chadwick Boseman in his last role. The Black Panther actor died on Aug. 28 from colon cancer at age 43.

“We are heartbroken over today’s news of the passing of Chadwick Boseman, a ‘true fighter’ as his family called him in their poignant tribute,” wrote a Netflix spokesperson in a statement. “This is an incredible loss. We are cancelling Monday’s preview event of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Please join us in sending your thoughts to his.”

The preview had been scheduled for Monday.

The film, which deals with racial tensions in Chicago in 1927 between Ma Rainey (Viola Davis), her Black horn player and a white management team,  is directed by George C. Wolfe and based on a 1982 play by Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson.

In a statement to THR after Boseman‘s death, Wolfe wrote, “Working with Chadwick on Ma Rainey was a glorious experience. Everyday we all got to witness the ferocity of his talent and the gentleness of his heart. A truly blessed, loving, gifted and giving human being.”

Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom also stars Colman Domingo.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled the disease for four years. He died at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, and other family members.
