‘The Batman’: Production Halts as Robert Pattinson Tests Positive for COVID-19!!

Making movies is hard. Making movies during a pandemic is a lot harder, as The Batman team is learning first-hand. Filming has halted on Warner Bros. and DC’s upcoming re-imagining of the iconic superhero character after a member of the production team tested positive for COVID-19 on the U.K. set, the studio has confirmed. And per a report in Vanity Fair, that person is none other than the film’s star Robert Pattinson.

“A member of The Batman production has tested positive for COVID-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” Said a Warner Bros. spokesperson in an official statement. “Filming is temporarily paused.”

The Batman will introduce Pattinson’s take on the Caped Crusader, alongside a robust rogue’s gallery of villains and antiheroes, including Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin (though you may not recognize him!). During the Fandome event, Reeves explained, “It’s actually in a weird way the origins of a lot of our Rogues Gallery characters. Selina isn’t Catwoman yet, that’s actually part of the journey. Oz is not yet the kingpin that he’s going to become, he’s The Penguin and in fact, doesn’t like being called The Penguin. And The Riddler is just emerging for the first time.”

The Batman is scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2021.
