‘Mother/Android’: Chloe Grace Moretz to Star in ‘The Batman’ Writer’s Directorial Debut!!

After writing the screenplays for two superheroes films: Netflix’s Project Power and Matt Reeves’ upcoming The Batman, rising scribe Mattson Tomlin is setting up his feature directorial debut with Miramax’s forthcoming sci-fi thriller film titled Mother/Android. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kick-Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz has been tapped for the leading role with Reeves also signing on the project as a producer through his 6th & Idaho banner.

“Mother/Android is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world,” Tomlin said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times.”

Mother/Android centers around a young couple named Georgia (Moretz) and Sam as they go on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land— a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.

Mother/Android is written by Tomlin, who loosely based the story from his birth parents ‘experience. This marks the second collaboration between Tomlin and Reeves after co-writing the script for The Batman. It will also be produced by 6th & Idaho’s Adam Kassan and Rafi Crohn along with Charles Miller and Miramax’s Bill Block.

Moretz gained recognition for her role as Hit-Girl in the Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass films which also starred Nicolas Cage, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jim Carrey. Her other notable film credits include: Let Me In, Hugo, Dark Shadows, Carrie, If I Stay, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,The Miseducation of Cameron Post, and Suspiria.
