Zachary Levi has nabbed a lead role in The Unbreakable Boy, with Jon Gunn directing for The Kingdom Story Company, the producers of I Can Only Imagine and I Still Believe, and Lionsgate.
Levi will play a father to Austin, a boy with a brittle-bone disease and autism, but also a joyous take on life that transforms and unites everyone around him. The film will be distributed widely by Lionsgate.
Gunn also wrote the screenplay for The Unbreakable Boy, which is based on the book by Scott M. LeRette with Susy Flory. Jon Erwin and Andrew Erwin and Kevin Downes will produce through their Kingdom Story Company banner.
Jerilyn Esquibel and Peter Facinelli will also produce. Levi will star in The Unbreakable Boy and then segue into the Erwin brothers’ American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, which will begin production next year. Meredith Wieck & Chelsea Kujawa are overseeing for Lionsgate.
Lionsgate released I Still Believe, the KJ Apa and Britt Robertson-starring faith-based drama, the follow-up to the 2018 indie hit I Can Only Imagine that was directed by the Erwin brothers.
