‘The Book Of Boba Fett’: Details of ‘The Mandalorian’ Spin Off Revealed!!

The Mandalorian season 2 finale confirmed The Book of Boba Fett is coming to Disney+, and here’s everything we know about the new Star Wars project. Boba Fett first captured the interest of viewers in 1980 thanks to his role in The Empire Strikes Back, which established him as a skilled bounty hunter with an instantly cool design. Boba returned in Return of the Jedi but seemingly died after falling into the Sarlacc pit on Tatooine.

Although Legends materials brought him back to life, it wasn’t until The Mandalorian season 2 that Lucasfilm and Disney‘s new Star Wars canon made it official. Temuera Morrison appeared as an unmasked and scarred Boba Fett at the end of the first episode, but he made his truly triumphant return in episode six. Boba played a role in the final three episodes of The Mandalorian season 2, but he was never the focus. His past remains a giant mystery as does his future. And even though rumors swirled that a Boba Fett spinoff was in the works, it was not one of the projects Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced. However, it turns out the announcement came during The Mandalorian season 2 finale.

Boba Fett’s role in the finale is quite limited, as he isn’t part of the main mission to save Baby Yoda from Moff Gideon. He did return at the very end of the episode, though, thanks to a surprise post-credits scene. Thanks to this scene, The Mandalorian season 2 concluded with the announcement of The Book of Boba Fett. But what is it exactly and when will it come out? Here’s everything we know about The Book of Boba Fett.

At this moment, it is not confirmed exactly what The Book of Boba Fett is. With The Mandalorian season 3 already officially announced, the post-credits scene and the fresh title indicates that The Book of Boba Fett is another spinoff of some kind. It could be a limited series focused squarely on the bounty hunter, but there’s also a chance the project is a Boba Fett movie coming exclusively to Disney+.

The release date for The Book of Boba Fett is confirmed for December 2021. The post-credit scene ended with the title reveal and another title card that confirmed when it will arrive. The Mandalorian season 3 is officially announced to arrive around Christmas 2021, so The Book of Boba Fett will presumably be released in the weeks leading up to the next chapter of the main story.

The Book of Boba Fett‘s cast only has two confirmed members after the post-credits scene. Temuera Morrison is back to star as Boba Fett after his role in The Mandalorian season 2. Meanwhile, Fennec Shand’s presence in the scene indicates that Ming-Na Wen will return to play the deadly assassin again in The Book of Boba Fett – on top of her return for The Bad Batch. It is also possible that Bib Fortuna (Matthew Wood) could return through flashbacks.

The story of The Book of Boba Fett is unclear at the moment. Bib Fortuna mentioning the rumors he heard about Boba tease that this project will be where Fett’s escape from the Sarlacc pit will be explained. While The Book of Boba Fett can fill in gaps in Boba’s past, the post-credits scene also sees him seemingly claim Jabba’s Palace as his own. This could allow The Book of Boba Fett to show him asserting his place as a new prominent figure in the galaxy’s criminal/gangster scene.
