Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) didn’t perform particularly well in theaters, and while it didn’t wind up faring much better on digital platforms, the highly entertaining DC Comics adventure did manage to recoup some of its losses when it flew onto home release platforms back in May.
Enough for Warner Bros. to greenlight a sequel? There were reports that the studio was considering a second film as well as several Harley-related spinoffs back when the movie was in production, but under-performing at the box office will tend to prompt a rethink.
During an interview with THR, Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) was asked if there are any plans in place for a follow-up, and didn’t sound too optimistic. “I don’t know,” said the Harley Quinn actress. “Nothing imminent at this stage, nothing worth mentioning.”
Robbie will reprise the role of HQ for James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad, but as for Huntress, Black Canary and the others? We’ll just have to wait and see.
