NBCUniversal‘s Peacock has released the first official trailer for the new Punky Brewster revival, which will bring fans old and new together.
The trailer begins with Punky and Cherie watching home videos. Cherie then tells Punky she remembers that girl as we see a clip from the original show, with Punky going on about wearing two different shoes before going back to the present to a now-grown-up Punky, still wearing two different shoes. “Still works!”
Punky Brewster originally aired on NBC from 1984-1986 and again in syndication from 1987-1988. The series starred George Gaynes, Frye, Susie Garrett, Johnson and T. K. Carter. NBC Universal announced the 10-episode revival in 2020.
In this continuation of the iconic 80s sitcom about a bright young girl raised by a foster dad, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self.
Written and executive produced by Steve and Jim Armogida, Punky Brewster stars Soleil Moon Frye, Freddie Prinze Jr., Lauren Lindsey Donzis, Quinn Copeland, Oliver De Los Santos, Noah Cottrell and Cherie Johnson. The series premieres Feb. 25 on Peacock.
