‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’: Director Anil Sharma’s 2001 Blockbuster to Re-Release on August 11!!

The 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, featuring Sunny Deol is all set to be re-released worldwide on June 15, as per the reports. Actor Sunny Deol made his mark by delivering some of the most iconic dialogues that people imitate even now. The veteran now shared that the re-release of prequel is to take place on August 11, two months before the release of its much-anticipated sequel Gadar 2: The Katha Continues. The film is directed by Anil Sharma, who also helmed the original, produced by Zee Studios.

An official from the production company said that the decision to release the first film on the same day it was released in 2001 was made in order to generate buzz for Gadar 2. An official from Zee Studios told PTI, “As a lead up to part two of Gadar, Zee Studios plan to re-release part one in digitally restored format like how ‘Avatar’ was re-released. The movie will release on the same date, which is June 15”.

Director Anil Sharma sharing his views to PTI on the re-release said, “I am happy people are interested in (watching) Gadar. Just like how Avatar and Baahubali were re-released, we too will do that with Gadar. We are in the process of planning things for the re-release of the movie”.

Speaking of the upcoming sequel of the 2001 release, Gadar 2 will reportedly continue the story of Tara Singh, his wife Sakeena (Ameesha Patel), and son Jeete (Utkarsh Sharma). In the first instalment, Tara Singh crossed the border to bring his wife back. Directed by Anil Sharma, who also helmed the first, Gadar 2 is scheduled for release in the first half of 2023.
