‘Modi’: Johnny Depp Sets Biopic as Directorial; Al Pacino to Star!!

Johnny Depp has announced the cast of his upcoming directorial project Modi, his first film as a director in 25 years. The film will explore the story of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani and is set to go on floors in Budapest this fall. The headlining cast will feature Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio, who is best known for his roles in John Wick: Chapter 2, The Best of Youth and Paolo Sorrentino’s Loro.

Additionally, Pierre Niney and legendary actor Al Pacino have also been roped in for the film, with the supporting cast yet to be finalized. According to a report by Deadline, the film will be based on a play written by Dennis McIntyre and adapted for the screen by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski. The story will explore painter and sculptor Modigliani’s time in Paris in 1916, where the events of two days in his life will be depicted.

The film will showcase turbulent incidents involving the police. With that being said, it is worth mentioning here that Depp is returning to the director’s seat after 25 years since his last directorial venture, The Brave. Modi is expected to begin filming in Budapest this autumn.

On the other hand, Depp will be making his acting comeback as an actor in Jeanne du Barry, which is set to premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2023. While Modi is Depp’s first project as a director in 25 years, he has previously acted in movies such as Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
