‘Friends’ Stars Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox Pay Tribute to Matthew Perry!!

Following Matthew Perry‘s unfortunate passing on October 28, Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox, who worked with the actor over the course of a decade in the popular sitcom, Friends, have now shared moving tributes to their late co-star. Through an Instagram post including photos of the pair throughout the years, LeBlanc included some heartfelt words as he said goodbye to a very important person in his life. Joey and Chandler made millions of people happy with the ideas they came up with when Friends was on the air, with LeBlanc and Perry establishing their legacy in the history of television.

LeBlanc‘s post expressed the following:

“It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never. Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love. And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

Even in such a sad time, the actor continued to shine with the sense of humor that defined the friendship between the characters, but also the bond between the performers themselves. Cox, who played Monica, also posted a reflection on Perry‘s life and what knowing him meant to her, stating:

“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day. When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here’s one of my favorites. To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story. In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind.”

Joey, Chandler, and Monica joined Ross (David Schwimmer), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) as the main cast of the series, with the characters facing different challenges in their jobs and love lives while living in New York City. Friends ended up becoming one of the most successful television shows in history, with the final episode of the comedy watched by approximately 52.4 million people in the United States at the time of release. With one of the main cast members of the series unexpectedly passing away, the world continues to mourn the loss of Matthew Perry.

Matthew Perry’s Legacy Will Live On Forever

While most of the world will forever remember him as Chandler Bing, Perry also wanted to expand his legacy beyond the reach of film and television, striving to help people who found themselves in situations of addiction such as the one he struggled with during a large portion of his life. It might’ve been fun to watch Chandler dance, sing, and make sarcastic comments with his friends, but beyond the television comedy, the world has lost a star who wanted to make a change. The Matthew Perry Foundation has been established in his memory with all donations going to help those struggling with addiction.
