‘Daredevil: Born Again’: Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson Returning!!

Daredevil: Born Again has reportedly welcomed back two fan-favorite characters from the original Netflix series, following Marvel Studios’ major creative overhaul on the Disney+ reboot.

According to Marvel insider Jeff Sneider, Elden Henson (The Mighty Ducks) and Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) are expected to reunite with Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again, where they’ll be reprising their respective roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page. Henson and Woll’s rumored casting might be part of the new creative direction that the revival is heading, as Marvel Studios finally acknowledges Netflix Marvel shows as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. The pair’s potential appearance also comes after over five years since Marvel fans last saw them during the third and final season of the original Daredevil series, which ended with Foggy convincing Matt and Karen about working together again.

Echo director Sydney Freeland claims the first episode’s fight scene, which features Daredevil, showcases the titular character’s transformation.

Before this casting news, Woll previously opened up about her absence in Daredevil: Born Again last Dec. 12, where she described playing Karen Page as “one of the great roles of my [her] career so far.” She continued, “I think any iteration of Karen that comes back, if she comes back, if it’s me, if it’s not me, if it’s in comic books, if it’s in 50 years, whatever it is, I just hope that it continues to honor her. That you’re never just the sidekick.” It had previously been reported that Foggy and Karen would be excluded from Daredevil: Born Again, but that was before the creative direction was given a reset.

Daredevil: Born Again Undergoes Creative Changes

Following the end of the WGA strike, Marvel Studios had officially decided to make changes to the creative team of Daredevil: Born Again, after executives were reportedly not pleased with the first footage they saw from the initial production. Original head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman were ultimately replaced by showrunner Dario Scardapane, who previously worked on The Punisher series. In addition, Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have also signed on as the show’s new lead directors.

Despite the behind-the-scenes changes, Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio reaffirmed his confidence in Daredevil: Born Again by praising Marvel executives for the level of attention they’re giving to the MCU revival. “It’s the same tone and feel. The attention that the bosses are giving to it is extraordinary,” he said. Meanwhile, original Daredevil series creator Steven DeKnight also commented on the massive creative overhaul, revealing that he’s “delighted” that Marvel Studios had “finally realized you need an actual showrunner who’s a writer to make a series work.”

Daredevil: Born Again will also star Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, Arty Froushan, and Sandrine Holt. The latter is set to portray Kingpin’s wife, Vanessa Fisk, who was formerly played by Ayelet Zurer. Besides Cox and D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal will also be making his MCU debut in the upcoming Disney+ series, where he’ll be returning as Frank Castle/ The Punisher. While promoting Echo, D’Onofrio recently gave a positive update about the current status of the show, teasing that filming is “gonna start soon.”

Daredevil: Born Again is slated to debut in 2025.
