Bad Boys 4 gets a new filming update from star Will Smith. After the success of the previous three films, the most recent of which was Bad Boys For Life in 2020, Smith and costar Martin Lawrence are set to return for another outing as detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, respectively. The upcoming sequel, which is again directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, was announced early last year but encountered delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
In a new video posted to his Instagram account, Smith reveals that there are only eight days of Bad Boys 4 filming left to complete in Miami. Check out the video below:
“Bad Boys. Miami. Last eight days,” Smith says in the video in front of a scenic Miami backdrop.

How Bad Boys For Life Sets Up A Sequel
Few official story details have been revealed about the upcoming sequel, but the Bad Boys For Life ending does provide some indication of what might be to come for Mike and Marcus. Crucially, the 2020 film introduces a new antagonist with Armando (Jacob Scipio), who is revealed to be Mike’s son. The final moments of the film see Mike visiting his son in prison, and it’s possible that a redemption arc for Armando is on the horizon.
Bad Boys For Life is currently available to stream on Starz.
El Arbi previously revealed to ThePlaylist that Bad Boys 4 will have a more comedic tone than the previous installment, which was more dramatic. He also calls the film “the culmination of the Marcus Burnett arc,” hinting that Lawrence‘s character will be a greater focus this time around. Beyond that, the story remains mostly shrouded in mystery, though it’s sure to include plenty of the franchise’s bombastic and violent action sequences.
In addition to Smith and Lawrence, the Bad Boys 4 cast features a mix of returning characters and newcomers. Actors expected to reprise their roles include Vanessa Hudgens, Paula Núñez, and Alexander Ludwig, while Rhea Seehorn, Eric Dane, and Melanie Liburd will be joining the film as new characters, with Dane seemingly playing the villain. With a release date set for this summer and not many filming days left, it’s likely that promotional materials for Bad Boys 4 aren’t too far off.
