The acting setlist for James Mangold‘s A Complete Unknown just got some new numbers added to it, with the confirmed casting of five new actors to the movie’s backing singers, as per Deadline. Featuring Timothée Chalamet as the legendary folk singer Bob Dylan, the film — currently undergoing production in New York City, from Searchlight Pictures — has now welcomed an ensemble of talented actors to its roster, among them Boyd Holbrook. Holbrook, known for his work on the critically acclaimed Narcos and soon to be seen in The Bikeriders, leads the pack of new additions, which includes Scoot McNairy (Argo), Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Will Harrison (Daisy Jones & The Six), and Charlie Tahan (Ozark).
Holbrook previously worked with Mangold on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Logan, so his upcoming role in A Complete Unknown feels like a natural progression in their collaborative journey. Beyond Mangold‘s projects, Holbrook‘s anticipated performance in Jeff Nichols’s The Bikeriders is already creating buzz. McNairy has been seen in films as diverse as Oscar-winning films like Argo and 12 Years a Slave, as well as his next project, Nightbitch, in which he stars alongside Amy Adams.
Who Has Been Cast in ‘A Complete Unknown’?
Dan Fogler, Will Harrison, and Charlie Tahan round out the cast. From Fogler‘s comedic timing, demonstrated best in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, to Harrison‘s breakout role in Daisy Jones & The Six, and Tahan‘s compelling performances on Ozark, their addition to the cast adds a really strong layer of supporting actors to help Chalamet, Elle Fanning and Edward Norton, who had already been cast. Marking the start of production, Mangold released a statement expressing his enthusiasm for the project:
“This film has been a dream for almost five years now and I am thrilled to start shooting and thankful for the support of Searchlight, Timothée and all the gifted actors who have come aboard to help create the unique world of this movie, set in such a pivotal moment of our culture and populated by such unique artists and characters. I am also profoundly grateful for the support of Bob Dylan and Jeff Rosen in helping Jay and me and the crew with their recollections, wisdom and access to their incredible archives.”
A Complete Unknown is currently shooting in New York City and New Jersey. Stay tuned to Collider for more details on when the film will be released.
