A first-look photo has been revealed for the upcoming My Spy sequel. The image reunites the two stars of the original movie, Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman, though the latter has grown quite a bit since the first film.
Released in 2020, My Spy was directed by Peter Segal and written by Jon and Erich Hoeber. It featured Dave Bautista as a CIA agent who agrees to teach his methods to a precocious nine-year-old girl, played by Chloe Coleman, in order to prevent her from blowing his cover on a major undercover mission. The two are reunited for the sequel, titled My Spy: The Eternal City, as seen in the first look photo below.

In the sequel, Bautista‘s J.J. will escort Coleman‘s Sophie on a school trip to Italy where they become embroiled in a terrorist plot. Peter Segal returns to direct My Spy: The Eternal City, which he co-wrote with Jon and Erich Hoeber. Other stars of the sequel include Kristen Schaal, Ken Jeong, Anna Faris, Craig Robertson, Flula Borg, and Nicole Correia-Damude.
Filming Was Wrapped on the My Spy Sequel in May 2023
Sharing a set photo when filming was concluded in May 2023, Bautista said in an Instagram post at the time, “That’s a wrap on [My Spy: The Eternal City]. It doesn’t get more special than this. We are truly family. I love you guys.”
The first My Spy film marked Coleman‘s movie debut, though she’d appeared in TV shows like Upload and Big Little Lies. She has also done motion capture for a role in the big-budget sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, and had roles in the films Marry Me with Jennifer Lopez, 65 with Adam Driver, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves with Chris Pine. Most recently, Coleman appeared in the Netflix movie Pain Hustlers with Emily Blunt and Chris Evans.
Bautista is partly known for his role as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a run he wrapped up with 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The former pro wrestler also recently appeared in the hit movie sequel Dune: Part Two, reprising the role he played in the original film from 2021. He has several upcoming projects in the works, which includes the recent revelation that he’ll be doing voiceovers for the animated Avatar: The Last Airbender movie.
My Spy: The Eternal City will premiere on July 18, 2024, and the first film is currently streaming on Prime Video.
