Get ready to explore yet another comedy where two people might get to live in each other’s shoes for a day, with Disney confirming that Freaky Friday 2 has begun filming through a social media post. The picture the studio shared this morning featured both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, with the performers more than ready to reprise their roles. It’s been years since audiences caught up with Tess and Anna Coleman, but after a long time of viewers asking to see the characters once again, they’ll finally get their wish. Hopefully, their next adventure won’t be as messy as the last one.
Freaky Friday introduced Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman, a teenager who wants to become a musician while going through a tough time following her father’s death. Jamie Lee Curtis stepped into the shoes of Anna’s mother, Tess, with the character ready to get married again some time after losing her partner. The complicated relationship between the mother and her daughter got even worse when they involuntarily switched bodies thanks to mysterious fortune cookies. By living each other’s lives, Tess and Anna accepted that life at any age isn’t as easy as it seems. The plot of Freaky Friday 2 remains under wraps, meaning that audiences will have to wait a bit more to find out what’s next for the duo.
The cast of Freaky Friday 2 has been assembled over the course of the past few months. Manny Jacinto is in talks to join the cast of the sequel, with the actor expanding his working relationship with Disney after recently appearing in The Acolyte. The Star Wars television series allowed Jacinto to portray Qimir, a smuggler working with one of the most important characters in the story. Jacinto is also famous for his role as Jason Mendoza in The Good Place.
The Supporting Cast of ‘Freaky Friday 2’
Julia Butters has also been cast in Freaky Friday 2, after leaving a lasting impression thanks to her performance as Reggie Fabelman in The Fabelmans. The performer has also worked with Disney before, with a voice role in Monsters at Work allowing her to expand an impressive resume that also includes Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. There’s no telling what’s going to happen once the Coleman family returns, but judging by the beloved comedy from twenty years ago, their bad luck will entertain families from all over the world.
