Vin Diesel returns with another Fast and Furious update. As the Fast X sequel prepares for production, the actor shared another behind-the-scenes post on social media. Unlike his previous updates, this one focused more on the “setting” of the film rather than the cars itself, hinting at what’s to come in the franchise’s finale.
The video, with the caption “Furyan Friday” featured a behind-the-scenes look at the film’s 11th installment. The scene in question is being shot in a studio with a semicircular LED video wall, something that was similarly used during the production of Disney‘s The Mandalorian. Diesel talks in front of the camera, saying “This is where it happens. This is the environment” with the rest of the crew directing him and commenting on how good the shot looks. Unfortunately, Diesel is the only actor seen on set, which makes sense since he’s also Fast & Furious‘ executive producer.
This behind-the-scenes video is different to the concept art Diesel shared back in June 2024. The concept art depicted the franchise’s final installment taking place in a snowy mountain. Meanwhile, this video looks like it’s set either in a desert or on a different planet. At the moment, the plot for Fast XI is still under wraps, and it’s going to take a while until story details emerge for the upcoming movie.
What Do We Know About ‘Fast and Furious 11’?
Fast & Furious 11 is the upcoming sequel to Fast X and the final film in the Fast & Furious franchise. Directing the project is Louis Leterrier, who took over the project after Justin Lin departed from the project due to creative differences. Originally, the film was scheduled to come out in 2025, but the release was pushed to a later date due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and Writers Strikes.
Aside from the concept art and indoor set videos, Diesel shared images of cars in race tracks, hinting there would be another race. This was also supported when he announced he would be doing track racing training in preparation for the film.
Fast X came out in theatres back in May 2023 and ended in a cliffhanger. The film received an average critics score of 56 percent and an average audience score of 84 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s also the 5th highest-grossing film of 2023 as it generated over $714 million at the global box office.
Fast and Furious 11 is scheduled to race its way to theatres in 2026. In the meantime, you can stream Fast X on Apple TV Plus and Prime Video.
