While The Boys universe will continue with multiple spin-offs, it’s been confirmed that The Boys will conclude with Season 5, and its final outing just added a new star to its ensemble. A new report from Variety revealed that Mason Dye has joined the cast of The Boys Season 5 as Bombsight, a character who was mentioned last season as a Supe who was featured in one of the spoofy Vought superhero films, The Curse of Fu Manchu. Further details about his role are being kept under wraps, but Variety reports that the character could also potentially appear in the upcoming Vought Rising spin-off series, which has tapped The Boys Season 2 and 3 veterans, Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) and Aya Cash (Stormfront) as leads.
Dye is best known for his role as Jason Carver in Season 4 of Stranger Things, and he also appeared as Tom Galligan in eight episodes of the hit Prime Video series, Bosch, which aired its final season this summer. Dye also featured in four episodes of Teen Wolf, the supernatural werewolf fantasy series which aired from 2011-2017 and is currently streaming on Hulu. Dye is only the second new name to join The Boys Season 5 cast, as it was previously announced that Daveed Diggs, best known for his roles in Hamilton, Star Trek, and, more recently, The Little Mermaid, would also play in Vought’s sandbox, but details about his role are being kept under wraps. While the aforementioned Jensen Ackles was not a factor in The Boys Season 4, he is expected to step back into a leading role in Season 5 as his body was discovered on ice at the end of last season.
‘The Boys’ Season 5 Will Be Missing a Veteran Character
Claudia Doumit has featured in 21 episodes of The Boys to date, and also played a regular role in the hit spin-off series, Gen V, but her character will sadly be absent from the franchise moving forward. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) saw to it that Victoria Neuman was no more when he used his newly-discovered tentacle powers to rip her in half, effectively ending the head-popper. This was the beginning of a dark turn for Butcher, who will certainly be out for blood and vengeance until Season 5 comes to a close.
The Boys Season 5 does not yet have an official release date but is expected to begin production either later this year or early 2025. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates and watch The Boys on Prime Video.
