‘Verity’: Anne Hathaway to Lead Next Colleen Hoover Adaptation!!

After the success of The Idea of You, director Michael Showalter and star Anne Hathaway have their next project – an adaptation of Colleen Hoover‘s bestselling potboiler Verity. Deadline reports that the duo will make the film for Amazon MGM Studios.

Verity, which was first published in 2018, centers around Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who’s facing down financial oblivion until she gets the offer of a lifetime; Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling novelist Verity Crawford, hires her to complete his wife’s last book, which she is unable to finish after suffering debilitating injuries in a mysterious accident. However, at the Crawford home, as she pages through Verity’s notes, Lowen uncovers secrets far more shocking than the plot twists in Verity’s novels.

On top of that, she’s starting to fall for Jeremy, making her wonder how much she should let him know about his wife’s secrets. Hathaway is set to play Verity, with the rest of the cast as-yet unannounced. The oeuvre of Hoover is a hot commodity in Hollywood as of late, with the Blake Lively-starring adaptation of It Ends With Us grossing nearly $350 million USD at the global box office this summer. Thus, Deadline reports that Verity is destined for a theatrical release, as well.
