‘Kingsman’: Taron Egerton Provides Surprising Positive Update on Future of the Franchise!!

One month after The Kingsman franchise got a devastating update when executive Steve Asbell said there would not be any more movies, one of the stars of the series is not so quick to let go. During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Taron Egerton, known for playing Gary ‘Eggys’ Unwin in Kingsman: The Secret Service and then again in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, provided a promising update on the franchise’s future. The first Kingman movie was extremely well-received by critics and audiences alike, registering a score of 75% from critics and 84% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but the sequel slipped to 51% from critics and 64% from audiences. When asked if he thought another Kingsman movie was in the cards after Asbell essentially axed the franchise, Egerton had this to say:

I believe that was said by somebody from Fox, I think. I think… I don’t know, and I don’t want to speak out of school, but I don’t think that necessarily means we won’t do it. I think Matthew and I very much want to do one more. I want to do one more. And so while, you know, we don’t have a shoot date yet, I think it could still happen.”

It sounds like the Kingsman franchise may not be done yet. While the desire from one of the stars to make another movie alone certainly isn’t enough to get a film greenlit, the fact that Egerton isn’t willing to give up on another Kingsman movie is still a good sign. The Kingsman franchise comes from the mind of Matthew Vaughn, who also directed the prequel film that dropped in 2021, The King’s Man. Ralph Fiennes and Rhys Ifans starred in the prequel, which was panned by critics but beloved by audiences, scoring 42% from the former and 80% from the latter on Rotten Tomatoes. Vaughn most recently directed Argylle, the spy thriller starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard that was one of the biggest box office flops of the year, failing to earn even $100 million worldwide on a $200 million budget.

Are the ‘Kingsman’ Movies Streaming Anywhere?

The first two Kingsman movies, The Secret Service and The Golden Circle, are unfortunately not streaming anywhere at the time of writing, but are available to rent or purchase on VOD platforms such as Prime Video. The third installment in the franchise, The King’s Man, is streaming on Prime Video, while also being available to rent or purchase on the platform. Those interested in checking out some of Vaughn’s other work can find Argylle on Apple TV+, X-Men: First Class (Michael Fassbender) on Disney+, and Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) on Tubi.

A new Kingsman movie has not yet been announced but Egerton remains hopeful, so we will too. Stay tuned to Collider for future Kingsman updates and watch The King’s Man on Prime Video.
