Netflix is telling Ted Danson (The Good Place) to stay exactly where he is, as the streamer has revealed that it’s ordering a second season of the actor’s latest comedy series, A Man on the Inside. The title has been a top performer on the platform since its arrival at the end of last month, so audiences will be stoked to find out that there are plenty more hijinks for Charles (Danson) to get into down the line. As of right now, no specific date has been set for the show’s follow-up set of episodes, but we know that it will be part of Netflix’s 2025 slate, which also includes Anthony and Joe Russo’s latest feature, The Electric State, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
A Man on the Inside takes its story from the stranger-than-fiction story presented in the Academy Award-nominated documentary, The Mole Agent. Danson’s Charles is a retired man looking for a new purpose after having lost his wife. Dipping into a second career, Charles answers a private investigator’s request for a co-worker who will serve as a mole and infiltrate a senior living home on a top-secret investigation. After checking out his new digs and beginning to bond with the other people who call the center home, Charles’ life is flipped upside down, and he finds it difficult to stay on task when there’s an entirely new world to discover.
In a statement paired with the Season 2 renewal, A Man on the Inside’s creator and executive producer, Mike Schur, said:
“We are thrilled to make another season of A Man on the Inside , starring young up-and-comer Ted Danson. From our partners at Netflix and Universal TV to the writers, cast, and crew, it’s a truly exceptional team of talented and lovely people, with one notable exception (young up-and-comer Ted Danson, who’s kind of a nightmare).”
Who’s Behind ‘A Man on the Inside’?
While it isn’t abundantly clear what type of trouble Charles will find himself in during the sophomore season, or who he’ll reunite with or meet along the way, we can only hope that members of the debut installment’s cast will return for more fun. Filling out the Season 1 ensemble alongside Danson are Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Marc Evan Jackson, Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz, Deuce Brasco, Kerry O’Malley, and more.
